Imagine for a minute being a fan of any BSC school NOT in the state of Montana.

Your program struggles year after year. Zero consistency.
You know Montana and MSU are going to rule the conference every year.
You sit in the 3/4 empty home stands and many times are outnumbered by the visiting Montana school’s fanbase.
You watch your team get railed each and every year.
Games are over for all intents and purposes many times by halftime.

Honestly I can’t imagine being a fan of any other team.

All also reasons why I wish and think both Montanas should be pushing harder/be more aggressive about moving up to play with schools that give more of a damn about Athletics

I was actually thinking about this today as well. I was wondering, "which current Big Sky program would take over as the dominating team in the conference if Montana and Montana State were to leave? Idaho most likely, but I'd hope they'd move with us in this scenario. After that... who knows who would be the new dominating program of the Big Sky.

My hope is the MWC with MSU, NDSU, and SDSU.

Or make the Snow Belt Conference official with 2 Montana teams, 4 Dakota schools, Idaho, and and 3 to 5 other teams.
Longshot but apparently UNLV and Air Force could potentially still bounce supposedly if the MWC loses their lawsuits vs the PAC and they don't receive enough of the $$ they were promised to stay (discussion/claims on a few forums). That happens there's a chance but still a longshot.

That outcome could change a lot of things.

Who knows, maybe 1 giant conference with 2 divisions, merging top FCS programs with the MWC and or Pac 12. Then again, I doubt Wazzu and Oregon State would do that.

Also, I think UNLV should do it anyway.

Being a fan of EWU is mighty painful these days but I'll still support and watch the team. Even go to games if I lived in the area.

But college is just one (albeit my favorite) of many leagues I follow. So cool that other programs have better support but it's not something I really think about lol.

As for what happens other MWC teams leave, it'll all have to do with whatever gets remaining schools the most money. Beyond having Davis in the wings, I don't see the MWC grabbing any FCS teams and instead aggressively pursues a Texas team. The the MWC clearly chose Davis over Sac State for an eventual FBS add.

To be fair, those Weber and Sacramento conference titles were mostly a scheduling quirk.

EWU had definitely gotten themselves up there 10 years ago, for sure, but they really seem to have faded out of any meaningful contention with their current leadership.

Yeah its depressing AF in Cheney these days. All the way around. And the original post is right, every other school in the Big Sky wishes we had a Saturday scene like Bozeman and Missoula.

I was in Bozeman earlier this year for the Bobcat beatdown of EWU and I'll be in Missoula this weekend for for the Griz beatdown of EWU. I always enjoy the scene and hospitality.

It'd be great if more of the flagship programs in our conference stepped up to the plate. Idaho shouldn't suck, Weber, NAU, definitely should not suck like they do. Hell, even eastern Washington has become a school with a reasonably proud tradition and they shouldn't suck like they currently do. Cal poly isn't a flagship, but they shouldn't settle for being shitty either.

Davis is trying, and the griz and cats will always be there. Idaho state is competitive, and if they can hang on to hawkins for another year or 2 theyll be tough. Why can't the rest of the flagships pick it up? Why aren't they demanding excellence? I totally agree with AZ, there's no way I'd sit through whatever that product was that Weber state put on the field Saturday if i was a fan/booster/alum of that school. We literally had our depth chart guys in in the 2nd quarter.

Lamb at northern Colorado may have a chance, Portland state will always struggle but have had feisty teams in the past. These aren't flagship schools and will probably always be hit and miss, with more miss than hit in football. However, they do always bring value in other sports, i.e. men's and women's hoops etc.

Time for these other institutions to raise the bar if this is going to be our home for the foreseeable future, perhaps we could actually get traction for the "Snowbelt" conference!!

Unfortunately for Portland State, at least in my opinion they need to put their Football Program out of its misery. They have 0 support from the school, play in high school style facilities miles away from campus, get Obliterated week in and week out and no booster support to compete in this NIL Era.

I don't like seeing any Program lose Football, but in PSUs case it might be the best thing for them. The Big West is looking for a 12th team, they could drop Football and move their sports there.

I think the "Snowbelt Conference" idea would be awesome.

Can't disagree with any of it. Which again, is too bad. They've had some tough teams in the past, and some great players. And when they played in the downtown stadium, it was pretty special.

Look at their revenue streams. 1-5000 attendance at $10 ticket prices.

Right. But if the schools i mentioned put emphasis on having good programs, Idaho, NAU, Davis, Eastern, cal poly and put a competitive product on the field year in, year out, they'd have butts in the seats. I dont see Portland, nor colorado, etc ever having many fans.
