Okay, someone has to ask...how far does SDSU fall in the polls?

Interesting situation, with SDSU getting blown out by NDSU. If they had lost in a close game, I think they would have stayed at #2. Losing big, though, should drop them a bit.

I'm thinking to number 4, after NDSU, Tarleton, and Montana.

You can't put the team on the wrong side of the mountains over them because of the head-to-head, so they would be #5.

What does everyone think?

A crucial question. I just finished by poll guesses and my wife is proofing the writeup. Hopefully will get it posted in a few minutes. Hint: It was an ugly loss for SDSU and they will surely drop.

Being at home and getting blown out is an interesting deal. Fact is their defense got whooped badly. I’m thinking both Montana and Tarleton State jump them.

Yep I cant see the kittens jumping them when SDSU beat the mousers head to head

That is my guess too. They might have held #2 in a very close loss. Yet getting pounded, at home, with or without their starting QB is going to cost them. Falling to number 4 seems likely.

Not inconceivable they even fall behind our little brother. If you watched that game they looked completely inept. No Dakota State is largely responsible for that but damn the Bunnies showed virtually nothing on either side of the ball.

I think they go to 3 or 4.

My guess:

1. NDSU (8-0)
2. Tarleton State (9-0)
3. Montana (8-0)
4. SDSU (7-1)
5. Montana State (6-2)

Had SDSU kept it closer. I’d imagine they’d either stay at #2 or possibly dropped to #3. But getting blown out at home like that, I don’t see how they don’t drop down two spots. Still definitely a top 5 team, but at this point don’t know that they could stay ahead of both Tarleton and Montana.

I wouldn't be surprised to see 3,4,5 last week all move up 1 place, and SDSU falling to the 5 spot. All of the teams in the top 5 last week, with the exception of SDSU, won convincingly.

I'm not sure how much emphasis I would give to that SDSU win over MSU earlier in the year. At this point in time, I think the kitties are playing their best football of the season.

Agree on the kitties. One thing I noticed yesterday was his being off with his passes. He gets pressure and crowd noise at Washington Griz and he could have a long day.

You wouldn’t think so but…
But what? Sagarin has already hammered SDSU to 5th.

Last year they barely lost in Fargo, and they fell to #3 behind undefeated MSU. They're not putting SDSU at #2 after they lost by 31 at home. The general consensus I've seen from FCS media people on twitter is that they'll fall anywhere from 4th to 6th.

Stranger things have happened, but leaving them at #2 invalidates the voters as know-nothings.

We're 8 games in. Everyone is playing banged up at the end of October. I wouldn't be surprised if some homers kept SoDak State ranked pretty high. Also wouldn't be surprised if Sam Herder and his crew "leaked" their cheat sheets to the rest of the voters suggesting that So Dak shouldn't move much. It's not a push poll, Sam. Keep your ballot to yourself.

That said, there is no way South Dakota State Univeristy is a top 10 team in its current state. There is no way they could hang with a top 6 team. That's what should matter. It's not about whether they can hang with Indiana State, or South Dakota, or Illinois State as they mend up before playing North Dakota.
