Good, Bad, Ugly - Idaho

Just not sure how a person can complain about missing holds by an opponent and not believe that the Griz get the same. He is complaining because Idaho got away with 8 and the Griz only got away with, let's say 5?
Just by my view on this, and I'm not complaining about missed holding calls on a game we won, but when you have a guy moving around like Wood does, the offense has to hold more. The guy moves left, then gets pressure and reverses field and now all of the blocks are freed unless they grab. I don't believe that in that instance you can honestly say a team is only guilty of only one hold the entire game, I just don't buy that.

My bigger issue is there were several holds where the defender got by his blocker and the blocker was literally wrapping his arms around him from behind trying to tackle him. The most obvious and blatant holds I’ve seen in a while, and no flags. Zero. Here’s an example:

That's not even a hold, that is mugging there that looks like a WWF wrestling move to choke him out! Nice video evidence.

So, you’re saying the Griz held on every single play? Oh, wait, did you say nothing of the sort, and instead said a completely different thing which I annoyingly turned into something else?

HHH would say that the Griz were doing the same thing, I suppose. That was such a blatant hold. I saw it in real time too. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for leading off with kudos for the OL. They were great from start to finish.

Holding them to 2 FGs in the first half was awesome by the D.

Their QB would make an outstanding RB or slot receiver. He is strong and elusive. Luckily his throwing accuracy isn't even close to KAY.

Despite lopsided holding calls, questionable targeting call, marginal PI calls and the kind of spud-brained behavior we have come to expect from this opponent, we dominated in this game.

We didn't need some WA-Griz magic in this game. We are the better team. No doubts in my mind.

This is a very astute post. I need to pay more attention to your posts.

Holding happens basically every play and is rarely called. No reason to complain about it, but I am sure the same people will be here week in and week out doing so.

You are right, holding happens on most every play. But when the holding is so egregious, that's when it becomes hard not to criticize the refs for missing it.
But there aren't degrees of holding that are acceptable by rule, so a hold is a hold whether egregious or not.

Sure, but then please explain what the officials thought process is in ignoring most of them and only throwing a flag sometimes...
It is that same level of subjectivity you dislike with targeting calls. I am not saying that officials are infallible, but how holding is called isn't going to change and it seems like an issue that isn't worth complaining about game to game. Sometimes it benefits you and some times it benefits the other guys.

Commenting on it isn’t an attempt to change it. It’s an observation.

Should he be upset with the missed holding calls on the Griz then? That is kind of my point, they are missed and it makes zero sense to complain about one and not the other.
Where is your list?

Hooked posts this every week - it's widely popular.

You post nothing of value - just critique posts of others. So friggin lame. Hoops is right - you never played the game and know very little about football.

Good: Griz holding not flagged
Bad: subjective officials when it comes to holding
Ugly: Vandal holding not flagged
Unbearable: People whining about holding

Getting soft in your old age soldier.
