Soccer today

Lost 2-1. That's a tough one. I guess it's not surprising given all the weird circumstances with this match. I don't think we've lost a conference match in 3 years. Now we're gonna spend the rest of the season playing catch up.
Yep. Balanced BSC though, so perhaps if they win out, there is enough beating each other that the Griz still win it. Still host the tourney this year!

And they got stuck in the SLC airport on the way home. Soccer Instagram from 3am shows the ladies trying to find floorspace to sleep. Ugh...rough travel to rebound for Sundays game at home.

That’s just crazy. Good luck ladies! You’ve got this!

Mixed feelings about today’s game.

Things I liked:
- Fighting back to get a goal before the end of the first half
- Backline did a great job in the run of play (especially vs the co-league mvp from last year)

Things I didn’t like:
- Another corner kick goal… this is becoming a habit and I could see it coming back to bite us in the tournament
- Dvorak’s distribution was not so great today. Normally much stronger in that area, but today was not her day.

Mixed feelings:
- It seems like we are still finding our best attacking trio up top. Without Seelhoff pulling off incredible single hand effort, I’m not sure where another goal was going to come from in the run of play.
- Bentler is still a spark/adds attacking prowless when on the the field, but she gets subbed more than I’d prefer. (Still think Abby Smith could get a few more minutes… but she needs to utilize her speed when she does get on the field. Hasn’t quite shown that BITE that you need in a winger when attacking).
- Is Carly Whalen injured?

I didn’t get to watch today. The defense also just isn’t quite there yet either.

Draw today @Idaho, 0-0.

At least getting a point on the road is good but also kind of disappointing (although getting 3 of last 4 at home means conference championship is still within reach...huge game this Thursday against Weber State). But the biggest disappointment is more injury problems. Taylie Nowels and Eliza Bentler both got carried off with apparent lower leg injuries (Nowels had her knee wrapped, Bentler's might've been more ankle area).

Just a bummer with injuries. Very disappointing that way.

First half thoughts:

- Weber has to be feeling extremely hard done to not be level entering the half.
- The #10 position changed completely once Kerr entered the game. I thought Robertson was poor in that role prior to Kerr entering. This position needs more production… happy to see Kerr get an assist!
- Bentler needs to start every game. Instant energy and attacking prowless every time she’s in the game.
- Dvorak deserves praise for keeping a first half shutout.

Time to finish this one out in the second half!

Great second goal. Stayed onside. Love the 3-0 score thus far. Still 19 to go though. Let's keep it a clean sheet!

Wow, what a game! Griz move into 1st with the win and Sac State loss today. Great to see Bentler out there after getting carried off at Idaho. I was worried about this game after watching a few of WSU's impressive non-conference wins. Griz really needed a win and not just a tie so was also worried about where a goal would come from. 2 goals apiece for both Slater and Brisendine. WOW. Plus, WSU has been pretty high-scoring this year and defense rose to the occasion.
