Cat game analysis

Dowler looked terrific. 12 receptions. The QB looked pretty good and didn't throw any picks. 23-31.

244 yards of offense. Pretty weak.

The all-world running backs. Davis 5-16. Jones 9-15. 3.2 and 1.7. Pretty weak.

The all-world O-Line must have been pretty weak.

The D didn't seem good to me. Gave up 29 FD's, 506 of yardage

The defense and trenches looked atrocious. The Bobcats have some talent in the skill positions on offense but as anyone who played the game in college or the NFL will tell you, that will only take you so far. CatGriz and playoff games are won with your guys in the trenches. From their first game it looks like the Cats do not have the physical fortitude to withstand bigger and stronger teams. If they make the playoffs with this type of play it will be all but guaranteed first round exit.

So what you are saying is Veggie cannot rely on Choate’s recruits any longer? I know that’s not what you said, but is seems obvious right now. Cue Rob Ash 2.0 folks. Pretty soon the khaki pants are going to be on full display for all to see. Gnashing of teeth shall happen in Bozo and fans will become irate. Watching the deflation of puffed chests is going to be epic. The ride up was not pleasant as a Griz fan. The ride down will be glorious.

You got all of this watching the cats play a very, very good Big 10 Team?

Wow.

I’m not sure how much can be concluded playing a team where the gap in talent is so vast. They they probably have three first round pick type talent on their Oline and dline alone.

Anyone who thought the scats were going to be competitive in that game didn’t know enough about the opponent. They would have done similar to UM.

At first glance, the cats appear to have taken a step backwards. Oregon is elite, no question, but vigen looked back to his milk toast ways, no emotion, no energy, no fire. Without the talented players and emotional leaders of last year, could be a tough season in the blue and yellow.

I don't think there's much you can take away from it if you remove bias. If anything I think any positives that you observe are just even more impressive.

In 2022 they lost to Oregon State 68-28 in a similar fashion, and they proceeded to make it to the semis that year, losing to a very special SDSU team.

Cats will be a tough team again this year I'm sure.

What I watched was a complete manhandling of the vaunted kitty O and D lines. If they have NFL caliber players they didn't show up to this game. They should have stopped a drive or two when on D. They couldn't. They should have opened up running lanes for their top flight backs. They didn't. This is supposed to be the #2 Tean in the FCS. They are not. I expected the Oregon team would score at will. But the Kitties could only find the endzone once against the 3rd string. I can be pursuaded it was just a poor showing, but they looked so bad I fear they will get curb stomped at home next week by SDSU

I refuse to acknowledge any bias, simply truth. Cats suck, FTC 😂

Correct me if I'm wrong, did the kitties attempt any downfield throws? Maybe a couple of non competitive fades? They did throw far more than normal for them but it was mostly quick underneath and drop offs. I still think that hey will be a top 4 team in conference but clearly not as good as last year. The difference in my opinion was the elite running ability of their QB last year.

The cats were never going to keep it close vs Oregon. Any of their dumb ass fans who thought they would be within 20 are bigger idiots than I thought.

Taco looked good

Qb got the ball out fast and looked accurate.

They will miss Tommy like I’ve said for a long time now.

Their tackling was abysmal. Some of the worst tackling from a cats team I’ve seen.

They didn’t make one stop on defense. 9 straight scoring drives for Oregon regardless of 2nd team or 3rs team.

Too many pre snap penalties and procedural penalties by cats too. They have A LOT to clean up

Zero run game, which is also weird to see from a cats team.

Oregon looked really really good

I thought the Cats would look better. Did you expect the Cat backs to have almost no yards? Idaho lost to Oregon 14-24 a year ago.
Yes, thats about what I expected. It’s kinda apples to oranges. Look what the cats did to Idaho last year. The qb looked solid. Their run it’s usual self if they get their o-lineman in their usual spots. I heard something about a center out with a broken hand. Cats will be very good. I hope I’m wrong!

I noticed after the first Bobcat possession that a couple of the OL guys looked like they were going to puke. Maybe a little too much Golden Corral, or Cracker Barrel?

Didn't only two Big Sky teams win yesterday? They weren't all playing the Ducks.
