Fair poll. I feel UM should be 7. This gives the Griz something to aspire to - beating out typical opponents (BSC & OOC) and those schools chosen above the Griz.
Griz have lots of transfers and a part time starting sophomore QB returning. Most coaches struggle with chemistry blending in transfers.
KA still has limited live game reps. Their ranking UM should not be a surprise.

Bobby said in the interview recently that coaches used to recruit to build the program but now recruit to build the upcoming year's team. Bob Beers told me recently that this is the NFL way.

The breakdown is:
6 Big Sky
5 Missouri Valley
4 Coastal
2 Patriot
2 Southern
2 Southland
2 United
1 Ohio Valley/Big South
1 SWAC

I tried to find one of these that listed out the 26 coaches that participated just to see the regions the votes came from, but I found it interesting with my hate for the CAA that Richmond was in a 22nd place tie and William & Mary didn't even get a vote now that they are both in the Patriot. That of course means that Monmouth and Stony Brook are going to be better. That's my theory any way on the east coast bias.

Bill and Mary football is in the CAA for another season.

LMFAO! Tarleton, Illinois State and UIW ranked ahead of UM. Sure. RI and Mercer ahead of Idaho.

These are preseason polls, so they have nothing to do with the season, it's just a snapshot opinion of the individuals who submit their ballot. The last regular season polls aren't even used by the selection committee to determine the playoff field.
That said, UIW and Illinois State are ahead of Montana in both, but not to worry. The championship is still won on the field, but my top five would be NDSU, SDUS, Bozeman, South Dakota, Montana and I don't get a vote but it doesn't make that order wrong for the preseason.
If the coaches feel we are #9 and the media #7, it sounds to me like we have a few doubters out there that don't expect much, and that's not a bad thing, it's an opportunity.

Look at being ranked # 3 preseason last year got us--where did we finish, # 14 or 15 ?

I am frankly glad we're # 9--let's us sneak up on some other teams like a hungry Montana grizzly bear, which we indeed are !!!

It will soon be huntin' season for Da GRIZ. !!!
In 2023 preseason #14 in both coaches and stats polls and final #2 in both
In 2024 preseason #3 in both polls and #13 in final poll in coaches #10 in stats.

All that matters is #1, time to break the drought and go get the third one!

Not sure that being ranked #3 in the preseason had anything to do with how our season turned out. We could have started ranked #15 and ended out of the top 25. Our preseason rankings have no correlation to the performance on the field.

Yet we can run up 17 pages debating.

Don't agree at all. Many pollsters think if a school was great one year, they also have to be great the next, regardless of all the talent they lost. Sometimes true, more often not--I think the Shi__y Kitties 😸 will be watching the championship this year on TV instead of playing in it for those reasons 🤔 !!!

To be fair, their backups are better than our starters every year.
