Sources: Sacramento St. to apply for FBS status
Sacramento State plans to file an application with the NCAA this week to transition from the FCS to the FBS in football as an independent, sources told ESPN.
But for the Taylor years, the latter in their DNA.Well, they'll make a lot of money and lose a lot of games.
I actually think they’re gonna lose a lot of money.Well, they'll make a lot of money and lose a lot of games.
Will they make a lot of money though?Well, they'll make a lot of money and lose a lot of games.
The only way is to play an SEC schedule and get 750k a pop. No home games. 750k x 12 is 9 million. How will they make a lot of money as an independent? Know conferences payouts to be had.
People assume that scheduling FBS money games is the ticket to being flush with cash. How will they make a lot of money as an independent? Know conferences payouts to be had.
It's not a good decision. Their president is a loud mouth who doesn't know how to shut it, and when it became apparent that they weren't gonna get a PAC12 or MWC invite, his options were either walk his comments back and make himself look foolish (which if you've seen this guy and how egotistical he is, this wasn't possible for him) or risk the entire financial future of the school and try to go independent. He chose the latter when in reality he probably should've just licked his wounds, picked himself up off the matt, or better yet just should've not said anything at all. Instead he dug his heels in cause he has a huge ego. I'd love to get Sac State's AD behind closed doors and get his thoughts on whether this is truly a good idea or not. I bet I know what he would say.I’m open minded and willing to listen to all sides, so someone explain how this is going to be a good thing for Sac??
From a distance it looks like Sac President made decisions that his football team will pay for. Without a conference this will be very expensive and will make scheduling very tough.
On the other hand maybe they have a conference lined up for 27 and there is great talent around the Sac area.
I think you overestimate the total of those fat checks in comparison to a FBS athletic budget. For starters Sac can schedule the 4 west coast big ten schools…getting totally pounded and use fat checks to buy a new team each season.
Say what you will. At least we have the balls and leadership to try to make the jump. It's not a good decision. Good luck to them though. Not like they really brought any value at all to the Big Sky any way.
They are hitting Pac-12 benchmark criteria, and once the stadium is built, and we're two years in, watch for that invite. Boosters have been told this, lines up with a lot of the speculation out there. Also, SAC will get a bigger chunk of the media deal at that time, gives cover from "adding an FCS program"... Sac to Pac is still in play....I’m open minded and willing to listen to all sides, so someone explain how this is going to be a good thing for Sac??

You may have the balls but apparently you don't have a brain. Just because you have balls doesn't mean this is a good decision.Say what you will. At least we have the balls and leadership to try to make the jump.
I guess if failure is the ultimate goal, they are nailing it.Say what you will. At least we have the balls and leadership to try to make the jump.
I think this is the key. Because they're already fbs, they'll likely be the first team chosen whenever there's a conference opening.I’m open minded and willing to listen to all sides, so someone explain how this is going to be a good thing for Sac??
