MBBALL Dance Party! MONTANA vs Wisconsin Gameday!

Griz are not built to win these games. I watch other teams that have what it takes to upset better teams. They play with confidence, they are composed versus the grizzlies which are like deer in the headlights. They play the same exact game every time they play a high caliber team. The last teams that walked on the court with confidence and knowledge that they could beat anybody were Krystkowiak’s teams. Travis has done a nice job in conference, but when it comes to playing big teams, he just doesn’t get it done with the teams that he has don’t have what it takes to get wins in the NCAA tournament.

Wayne Tinkle had a competitive game against New Mexico somewhere around 2010. This Wisconsin team and the Michigan teams are probably a lot better than Nevada or New Mexico

So says Mr. Basketball. I didn’t see that at all, “deer in the headlights” quote. The Griz were undersized and the Badgers rotated to our shooters quicker than what we’re accustomed too. The Griz played their hearts out. We missed shots under the basket because we had two seven footers to contend with.

Money probably had his worst game
extremely disappointing. One kid that could’ve went off and kept us in the game. You need that when you’re the little guy. He looked pretty tight considering he couldn’t make a wide open 10 foot bunny the full 40 mins. Good and fun season. Winning the big sky and making the tourney is our “championship” anyway.

This! I know we had injuries in OOC but you gotta win more of these games and you gotta be competitive with Oregon and Tennessee. We almost got USF and may have won if it weren’t for a botched goaltending call, but St Thomas and Northern Iowa were bad showings. The good news though is we’ll get another crack at UNI next year cause they come to Missoula in November and that would be an example of a game you gotta win if you wanna get up to a 12 or 13. The Big Sky schedule does you no favors so you gotta maximize your opportunities in OOC

Our schedule was fine this year.
The problem is losing too many out of conference games to other mid majors. We need to consistently beat the likes of St Thomas, the Dakotas, Northern Iowa, San Francisco. At worse, we can't afford to be blown out by any teams like these!

That's the difference between a 12 and 14 seed!
Gotta go 30-4 like UC San Diego did this year. Definitely not holding my breath for that to happen lol

I'm not disappointed in Money at all. He didn't have a very good game but the 24-25 season has been full of ups and downs for him both on and off the court. Him having to balance tremendous loss, early season hype, being benched, winning 6th man, and playing in his first tourney game really had to test the guy mentally. I think for better or worse he'll reflect back on this season/year as a year of growth through both grief and maturity. If he can build off of it he'll be a force in the years to come.

Does anyone know what happens to teams that get bounced on day 1? Are they on the charter home after a shower? Or do they get to hang for the weekend and watch games and enjoy the tournament?
The teams who play in the early games get sent home. So unfortunately the GRIZ didn't get to experience all this to the Dance.

It's clear as a bub you didn't watch the game. The GRIZ were in NO WAY intimidated or "deer in the headlights". They got beat by a better team after suffering some rather one-side officiating on ticky tack shit that rarely gets called in the tournament which led to foul trouble.

Hell, the GRIZ had a Bdub 3-ball rattle out in the second half that would have cut the lead to one. Trust me, you could tell by the reaction of the Wisconsin fans and their bench after they scored after that miss that they knew they were in a ballgame and were fortunate Brandon's ball didn't fall.

Not to mention keeping a second team big boy all American in check all game. We punched out of our weight class for a good portion of the game to the Big Ten runner up given the difference in height and athleticism. The announcers lauded whisky for a 54% shooting game. We missed a lot of shots that were good looks and if the guys shoot their season average on those looks alone it’s a damn close game. I’ll take that showing over a first four loss to a 16 seed any day.

Yeah, if we shoot close to our yearly average, we're at least talking about losing barnburner.

It is clear that the Bubs and Griz are not comparable when it comes to mens basketball. The Bubs had a nice 3 year run of winning the Big Sky that ended in them losing to a 16 seed in the first four whereas the Griz have had sustained success over many eras.

Absolutely, disappointed was the wrong word to use. He had an amazing season especially with what he’s been through. Would just like to at least be competitive to the end in a tourney game and I’m giving him praise by saying he’s the guy that could do that for us! Of course it would take the whole squad but you often see a guy go off to help facilitate an upset.

They did not play like deer in the headlights!

The questionable charge call on Pridgen to give him his fourth foul was the end of the game. He went on the bench and even when he returned he couldn’t play with the same aggression. Without shooting a higher percentage we aren’t going to win a game like this as well.
I love Joe but that was an offensive foul.

These deer in the headlights comments. Jfc.

I'm giving some credit to Wisconsin coaches for watching tape on the Griz. Their rotation to Brandon and Malik was unreal. The coaches spotted that in prepping their game plan, and came up with a way to neutralize it. That quick step, drive, stop and pop was totally taken away by Wisconsin D. Hats off to Wisconsin coaches for a plan.
