My takeaway from this is that whoever you know at the rehab facility is no better than the "douchebag". Whether he said his name or not, insinuating that it is someone and trying to leave breadcrumbs is pretty scummy for someone that is supposedly helping people who probably expect confidentiality.

Is it really saying much that he is more confident now than as an NFL quarterback? He was horrible as an NFL quarterback one of the worst to ever do it.
Maybe I'm making stuff up, but I thought he also slammed the CMR coach he played under as "not teaching him a thing". This was the coach (Jack Johnson) that was amazing and exceptionally successful.
As I said, if I'm making crap up out of thin air, please let me know, but for some reason this has always stuck in my head about Leaf.
And an even worse analyst on NFL Network. He’s terrible
You know those folks that are working there are genuinely good people. Leaf isn’t and he used the system somehow to avoid the law over and over. Leaf is a phony and uses his “story” to somehow get speaking gigs and commentator jobs. He’s been an asshole forever. That’s not insider information he’s an asshole. You think it’s ground breaking HIPAA violation that a guy that worked at his rehab thought he was an asshole? I’ve never talked to one person that encountered him that didn’t think he was an asshole.

I have relatives in Great Falls and quite a few friends from there that say this exact thing. His family is so nice and he's a complete asshole. Come to think of it I have never heard anyone say anything positive about him. Sad, what a waste of life

I can remember him claiming, probably during his rookie or 2nd year in the league, that Washington in general and specifically Pullman, was his home, apparently renouncing Montana
I hope that he continues to call Washington home--they can have him !!!
And after he bombed
out of the NFL as the biggest draft bust in NFL history--This is probably somewhere between 2000-05, there was talk on e GRIZ about hiring him as an assistant coach. I thought to myself and I believe I posted on e GRIZ at the time that if some school was to hire him, let that school be WAZZU, his alma mater, not UM !!! To be fair, I believe this was before he started stealing opiods prescribed to his football and golf-team players at Div. Ii Texas A& M _____, where he was both their QB coach and/or OC as well as their golf-team coach.
It was about this time we had the brand-new chief editor of The Billings Gazette Steve Prosinski speak to a Scottish Rite of Freemasonry meeting here in Billings. ( Steve came to Billings from The San Diego Union Leader, where he worked as an assistant editor. After his talk, we had a reception and I told Steve I was a UM alum and that his Chargers were in good shape now that they had GRIZ great Dave Dickensen as their QB--Dave at that time was a backup QB for The Ssn Diego Chargers, and the Chargers were rid of Leaf.
Steve got really serious, told me he understood Dave was from the same Montana city and high school that Lesf was, told me the Union Leader's sports reporters had had several run-ins with Leaf both in the locker room, at practices and post-game interviews as well as on a San Diego area golf course where one of their reporters got a tip that Leaf was playing golf when he claimed to be injured and exposed Leaf as a fraud. Steve wanted to know if Dave was also a jerk ?
I reassured Steve that Dave was pure class, not a tool like Leaf. And then he asked me a question that I couldn't answer other than to assure him that neither Great Falls nor Montana was to blame: he asked me why Leaf is such an a$$hole !!!

I wish Mr. Leaf no ill will. He has done a fine enough job on his own of completely ruining his reputation. What I simply cannot understand is why he doesn’t put the shovel down at this point in his life. Not sure what his IQ is or what his GPA was at Wazzu. I am positive he has very little common sense.

I have one Ryan Leaf story… i met Ryan and his buddies in Bozeman drinking back in the early 2000s. He introduced himself as Ryan leaf “not just Ryan” and his friends tried hitting on the girls we were hanging out with. The girls were not having it and these dudes would not take the hint (a bit creepy) I told them they needed to leave them alone and one of his friends tried fighting us. That wouldn’t have gone well as I was with some big dudes that played for the Football team at the time.
Although not impressed with with our interaction I think Ryan has turned his life around for the better. We all need a little grace …

He volunteers and does free speeches to bring awareness to recovery. He spoke at the Montana State prison and a few other drug/alcohol recovery centers. Seems to understand how big of an ass he was and wants to give back. Try to give people the benefit of the doubt when they are trying to do better.
