This would be big

Every other sport has one transfer window. If they're going to eliminate the Spring window, that's fine, but they should extend the Winter window to 45 days then. 30 days is kind of tight when there isn't a second window

Eliminating the spring window negatively effects all those young men that would like to transfer after spring practice and would also force any player still on a team playing during the first window to make a decision. It also becomes an issue to extend the winter window when some schools begin classes earlier than others.

Seems like the spring window is a better option for the players.

I agree that spring is better, especially for kids that have new position coaches, coordinators, and/or head coaches. That gives players a chance to hopefully size up their new coaches and staffs during spring ball and decide whether or not they want to remain where they are after they get to experience the new coach(es), offenses and defenses, or enter the portal.

We have a lot of stability on our staff, with minimal turnover--how many staffs at the FCS level or FBS level have the NFL experience ours does, including a former NFL head coach ?

Our players and fans are fortunate--not all schools are so fortunate !!!

I think both are good options. For those players that know they are moving on, they can transfer over winter and get a head start with spring practice.
Maybe so.

I guess some know they are departing after the fall season. But, during spring window - recruits are signed and spring ball is over. Seems they would have better perspective.

But, I really don't know - I am the get off my lawn guy regarding the portal...just don't like it. Then again - not one single person asked for my opinion.

I think this would be a good thing. The transferring and bad decisions kids are making, is out of control. It's a shit show. A window in the winter is perfect. These kids need to learn to have some responsibility. With every action you make, there's a consequence. If you commit to something and you don't like it, too bad. Make the most out of it. You made the decision...

As someone who committed to a different school in a different sport at 18, when zero people in my family had ever attended a four-year university, and later transferred to UM (which changed my life), I could not disagree with the bolded statement more.

So you have only had one job your entire life? Only one girlfriend? Only one car/truck?

For myself -

I am in the team business. Loyalty to team mates is not optional - it is required. It results in highly efficient operations by highly effective, and yes, lethal teams. After 34+ years in this business, I value that principle more than just about any other.

The portal propels a different principle in so many ways. Again, just my opinion that zero people asked for.

I've had the same job for the last 12 years and I'm 32. I've had the same lady for 11. I have 3 vehicles that I repair myself. So not too far off. And these kids can still transfer, not like they can't. Just limits the time.

Idk I take commitment pretty seriously. I can understand transferring once but, after you at least tried for a couple years. And you're next choice should definitely be definitive.

I get you, but Counterpoint: CFB is a game. They also go to school. Our armed services are not games, to my knowledge.

Yes, but loyalty still matters...or it should.

These frameworks teach and even encourage bad habits.

Certainly not arguing with anyone as I know many like the portal etc. It's just not among my favorite things about the game...that I friggin love, by the way.
