More Stadium Concerts Expected

I don't see why they wouldn't. That money goes directly into the athletic department's pocket. The last time Pearl Jam performed at Wa-Griz, we used the money to install a new Soccer field and irrigation system. Now with three this year, who knows how much money we will have available for future projects. We're probably about due for new turf in Wa-Griz in the next year or 2. Perhaps that's what we could use the money on.

Could they maybe just not schedule them such that it kicks the Griz out of the stadium the WEEK of the home opener??

Yup, but only thru Wed next week. It’s happened in prior years too. The team can practice on the new bubble field, as well as the nearby fields. The article said these concerts had been scheduled at this time for the students returning school.

After reading the article, I came away with the impression that Bodnar is pimping the Griz Football Program. $$$$$

I don't see any downsides to this. The University benefits from the increased revenue. The town benefits by economically and socially by having big name artists coming into our backyard. The increased tourism might be a hassle for our traffic infrastructure but no more so than a Football game. This is a good thing for everyone.

It is a bit ironic that the University will grandstand about climate change and going green while hosting massive concerts that burn who knows how many millions of pounds of Co2 but that's a topic for another board.

No. I would guess that they will be fired up to practice on the brand new turf at the practice facility.
The IPF won't be ready until the end of the third week in September, at best, per UM. That's IF there are no more f'ups or other unforseen events delaying it yet again. The University needs to be laser focused on one thing, and one thing ONLY, the NC, THIS YEAR!

Sigh. Doesn't anyone pay attention? The turf is ready and is being used RIGHT NOW. Yes the bubble is not going up until mid September but the turf is usable currently.

Once they knew that the IPF was not going to be completed prior to the concerts, they came up with a new plan to make it work.

I am super stoked we're getting an IPF, and it's going to be great for the team, especially once it starts getting really cold, but there is no world where the reason we win or lose a NC comes down to 2-3 extra weeks of practice using it in September. The people in here insinuating that it will are being ridiculous.
