Another really nice addition to the Griz football team in Dane Parker, who had initially committed to Air Force Academy, but will now be a Griz. Dane is an athlete with four years of eligibility three star rank with lots of other offers out of high school.

Nice, he did look tough. Any info on where we are bringing him in to play at? I kind of assume safety from the tape?
So he spent 1 year at Air Force and used his red shirt? And now he'll have 4 years to play 4?
My understanding is he was enrolled in the Air Force Prep Academy last year (Graduated HS 2023). The prep academy purposely stays unaccredited so that athletes don’t burn a year of eligibility. He is effectively a true freshman this year, and I expect him to utilize a RS year.
Military academies typically don’t RS players, so prep academies are a way they essentially get a RS year out of recruits, but the year doesn’t count in the eyes of the NCAA.
Oh okay that makes more sense. I was just a little confused how he could have been there a year and still have all his eligibility left. Thanks for the explanation.

It’s a 5th year of high school. We’ve had others from the Prep Academy.
My guess is a future safety

If Yale offers, you are smart. If the AF and Army offer, you're a clean cut kid who has already shown an ability to go beyond what is asked of most high school students. Those recruitment cycles say a lot, to me.

The kid looked good in his senior tape. Good speed, hard hitting and at least a pretty good (or better) tackler. Played fairly big, and perhaps 180 in high school is pretty big. The coach sure had him lined up extremely deep most of the time. But he filled well from there. Looked like he had good hands. I like this prospect, plus he's had a post-grad year to get older and develop.
He turned them down, so he passed. Surprised, I heard they give out free ski masks to new recruits. Hard to turn that down in the northwest.
Now that was funny. And by the way, for years and years I think I was the most catfishable person on eGriz so I'm super happy to have handed that torch off to you.

To be truly known to be smart, recruits need to have gotten an offer from Dartmouth. Yale, Harvard, Princeton, not so much.
