MBBALL 2024 Big Sky Conference Transfer Tracker

I know that Weber has talked to Mitchell, but there has been no offer just yet. He certainly has an up side, but he is quite small for a D1 PG.

I'm not sure when we might see some activity from Weber. Right now there are just too many irons in the fire and the fire is just getting started. You certainly don't want to move too fast and then miss out on a real game changer. I'm sure there are a lot of teams in this same situation. Fun times.

Yeah, I wonder (because I honestly don't know) if there isn't going to be some significant roster churn at Weber. Just feel like after the off-kilter season they had, where expectations didn't meet reality, that you wouldn't see some roster restructuring.

I got the sense the roster wasn't as cohesive or things didn't fit that well together. Sort of how I felt about Montana last year with everything centering around Bannan. Maybe if Jones does decide to forgo his Covid Year, the roster takes on a whole different feel. Just so weirdly uneven from WSU and not at all what you'd expected with Jones/Verplanken and on paper a good supporting cast of Threat,Kohler and Tew. Never got the sense that roster was middle of the BSC calibre.

Very good observations. When you have a star like Dillon or Damian, you want to do right by them and send them off to the pros in the best light possible. Sometimes you make choices that favor them over the team and that is not always best for the team. The other dynamic at play is the uncertainty of the recruiting process. You bring guys in and you think you know what you are getting only to find out the truth when things get hard. Things always get hard. It's the nature of competition.

Yes, I expect a little roster turnover as well. I don't know the exact numbers, but I expect 2 or 3 guys to be transferring out. That would give us 3 to 4 openings and we already have one commitment for spring signing. Doing that math, it will require us to bring in 2 or 3 more guys this spring. Like everyone, we will do the best that we can and hope that there is a gem or two in the mix. Out of the 2 or 3, I would expect at least one D1 transfer.

Quinn Denker of Idaho is in the portal. The CS-San Marcos transfer had a really good year in Moscow.

That at least on paper is a big loss for the Vandals.

There must have been more going on at ISU than met the eye. I think they are up to 7 players transferring out now and one graduate. That's a pretty big rebuilding process that will be happening in Pocatello.

At UI, I thought Denker was their best player and most consistent.

I think Arrington and Tomley probably have real opportunities to parlay their success into a step up somewhere. They definitely could have run in back in Pocatello, but considering the track record on the mens side in Pocatello, I think their chances for post-season success might be found elsewhere if that is what they were looking for.

Not sure that it makes a lot of sense with Denker unless he was truly unhappy in Moscow or they mutually agreed that it wasn't a good fit going forward. Because on the surface that one doesn't make much sense from Denker's perspective. Don't know that he'd find a better spot than what he had in Moscow.

Yaak Yaak into the portal for New Mexico State. A 6-11 soon to be a Sophomore from Australia.

Definitely all name team and regardless of ability a must sign for the Grizzlies in the off season.

UNC's Saint Thomas into the portal. Big loss for UNC but not the least bit surprising. Everyone and their dog saw this coming. It's kinda funny, I remember Joe Cravens saying at the Big Sky tournament that "Saint Thomas will be the preseason player of the year next year, IF he stays".

UNCo's JuJu Ramirez is also in the portal.

Rumors are flying that as many as 5 could be leaving EWU, and that is if their coach stays. There is a lot of movement yet to come. I expect 2 to 4 to be leaving NAU as well.
