Montana: Gerald is a very versatile athlete and was moved to wide receiver full time prior to the start of 2012 fall camp. He has played quarterback, running back, and wide receiver in his three-year career at UM, and scored at least one touchdown at each of those positions. He has played in 30 career games going into his senior season.

2011: He had a solid all-around junior season, playing in 11 (of 14) games, but was slowed by injuries in early November. He was fifth on the team in rushing with 223 yards and two touchdowns. He tied for sixth in the squad for receptions with 17. He passed for 218 yards and two scores.

2010: He played in 10 games (he did not play at Cal Poly) and was the Grizzlies’ second-leading rusher with 45 carries for 224 yards. He was seventh (tie) on the team with 10 receptions.

2009: He was used in a “Wildcat” formation several times, rushing 15 times for 67 yards. His only pass attempt was picked off in the Portland State game. He played in the first nine games, missing the final six because of an injury. He also participated on special teams.

2008: He was a redshirt at UM.

High School: He was named Rancho Bernardo High School’s 2008 “Athlete of the Year”…earned 12 letters: four each in football, basketball, and track and field, and was team captain in all three sports…junior and senior years he passed for 1,850 yards and 16 touchdowns, rushed for 2,050 yards (9.5 avg.) and scored 26 TDs…played wide receiver as a sophomore and had 28 catches for 640 yards and four scores…team MVP in football as a senior…All-North County and All-Palomar League first team all-league in three sports… senior track squad was the C.I.F. champions and one of the top teams in the state…his high school football coach was Brad Elrod.

Career Highs: He had 11 carries for 79 yards and two touchdowns against Northern Colorado in 2011. His career-long run is 50 yards against Eastern Washington in 2011. He had 8 catches for 82 yards at Idaho State last season. His career-long catch is 26 yards versus Montana State in 2010. He was 7-of-8 passing for 112 yards and two scores against Northern Colorado in 2011. His career-long pass is 32 yards for a TD against NC his junior season.
