Delene Colburn's single in the bottom of the sixth gave Montana an 8-0 walkoff win over ISU in round one of the Big Sky Conference post season tourney. Griz frosh ace Michaela Hood got the shutout win. Montana will face Weber State, 1-0 winners over Southern Utah in the winner's bracket tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.

I was kinda surprised Pinkerton started and played Hood the whole way. I thought Driscoll would start to save Hood against Weber tomorrow. Driscoll is more than capable in getting the win against ISU and tomorrow's match against Weber is almost like the championship game since it gives the winner such an advantage. But after reading GoGriz's article, it sounds like the plan is to use Hood as much as possible all three days.

"She didn't have her normal velocity, so she pitched to contact," said Pinkerton, who would have preferred his ace have an easier outing in Montana's tournament opener.

"She didn't have a lot of non-stress innings, and that doesn't bode well for pitching for three days. I would have liked her to have a less stressful outing, but we got the W."
