Jaxsen Hashley has medically retired from football with the Cats, as a result of multiple knee injuries.

Too bad. I hate to see anyone's career end like that. I know he has had knee problems since he was young. I wish you the best Jaxsen.

My favorite clip of Jaxen: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/3578083/58312800c124d70ba093b1f7.

Probably not his most athletic but most powerful. Completely overpowers an All-State RT then blows up the 2016 GPOY. Mix in the fact he was playing on a very unhealthy knee.

In all honesty, I thought he would eventually be an offensive lineman for the Cats as he just kept growing. He comes from an excellent family and he's a good, smart kid. Still should have a bright future.

He was a Cat. His Dad was a Cat. I will not feel sad.

And you are wrong for that. Losing a sports career is awful no matter what team you play for. Show some compassion.

Quite a difference a year makes. At this time last year, Bobby Hauck was up in Kalispell trying to convince Jaxen to sign with San Diego State for football.

I also believe you are very wrong for that as well. I don't feel any better about him than I did when Carson Bender had to retire due to injuries. Pretty infantile reaction. I would want to beat his a** every time we beat them, but I would not celebrate anyone else's misfortune.

Could def see him playing hoops for the University of Providence at some point.

or becoming a scholarship player on their new varsity E-sports gaming team? They are also adding hockey if he can learn to skate... UProvidence has interesting growth plan

+1

Hate to see anyone's career ruined by injury, regardless of which side they're on.

When did basketball become less stressful on knees? Coach, this sounds like a coverup.

A lot of schools are adding the ESports teams.....here in Dallas two brand new ESports arenas are being developed.

This makes sense on two levels.

1) He said on the tv news that football didn't work out because his knee just wouldn't hold up. (Pressing 300 lb players play after play that don't want to be moved, pressing back, is brutal on knees)

2) He said basketball is his true passion.

It can be much more stressful. When you are a lineman, that extra 40 pounds you pack on can be awfully stressful on your ligaments, especially if you already have knee issues. The strength and conditioning program for football is also much more intensive in lifting heavy amounts of weight. That can also create problems for a player who needs to add much more strength but also has lingering knee issues. Basketball is known for knee and ankle injuries as well, but for a big guy, he should be able to rehab much easier.
