He had a good day today at MSU. Will be interesting to see how this goes for him.

Saraceni, a running back from Billings Senior who was a grade behind Newell and played in the same backfield in high school, had one of the best performances of the day. The two-time Frontier Conference Player of the Year had a 36-inch vertical, pumped out 20 reps on the bench, ran a pair of sub-4.5s in the 40, ran the fastest short shuttle of the day at 3.81 seconds and broke seven seconds in the 3-cone drill.

I think he's one of the great what-ifs in Montana college football history. What if he didn't get injured as a senior. Would he have gone to UM or MSU or even a larger school? What kind of production could he have had at a D1? What would his draft stock be? I would not at all be surprised if he makes an active NFL roster

For Tech, only the great Don Heater, who was an incredible runner in the late 60s/early 70s has ever played in the NFL. He was drafted by the Cardinals in 1972, and played 2 games with them.

It's time for another to earn a roster spot.

I agree.

Good testing numbers. The biggest challenge for him will be the jump from the NAIA level to going to a camp with NFL speed and size. Definitely has all the measurables and skills to make a roster though.

Where did you hear a pair of sub-4.5s in the 40? Bozo tv station says 4.56 (which is good, the NFL wants at least 4.59 or faster in their RBs).

Scouts don't share their numbers on pro day. They are very weary of talking to media at all. They will however share official numbers with the schools, which they did in Montana's case on Monday.

I stood next to two Montana State strength coaches who timed all the drills with a stop watch. Our listed times are the times they had. But they are hand times and unofficial. And if you've ever been at a pro day, you quickly realize that the different between 4.48 (which we listed) and 4.56 that the TV station reported is literally less than a half of a blink of an eye.

Kupp mainly played at Pacific Lutheran, I'm not sure he even saw the field at Tech. Heater however, was a 2-time NAIA All American, led the nation in TD's and rushing - so really the only true player from Tech, as Kupp made his name at Pacific Lutheran.
